I remember hearing this song for the first time, when I was in freshman year. Back when the Central Valley had an alternative rock station, it seemed like every day they’d play this at 3:00 in the morning, on the spot. It was the perfect song to play just as I went to bed. That station is top 40 now, which sucks.
This song represents a weird portion of my life. Middle and early high school were really shitty times for me, and it helped to have some sort of thumping anthem to get through it. Plus, MCR was my first concert alongside Blink-182 and Matt & Kim. I was probably the only person who cared more for MCR and Matt & Kim than Blink. It was a weird night… Steve Jobs died when we were waiting in line to get into the Shoreline in Mountain View, and we happened to be a few miles from Apple headquarters. You know, back when I had friends who didn’t irritate me, ignore me, backstab me, or give me anxiety.
I really don’t know if i’m better off now. I really don’t.
